Gruppo FS CEO confirms achievement of 25 billion euro PNRR targets

Gianpiero Strisciuglio, CEO of Gruppo FS, has announced that the company has met all objectives assigned under the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR). The group's involvement in the plan totals approximately 25 billion euros, focusing primarily on infrastructure and new trains for Intercity and regional services.

Strisciuglio emphasized that the PNRR has strengthened administrative, management, and design capabilities that will support future phases of development. Rete Ferroviaria Italiana is expected to see investment volumes reach approximately 12 billion euros by 2026.

Key infrastructure projects include the Napoli-Bari line, which has already reduced travel time between Bari and Naples from four hours and 15 minutes to three hours and 30 minutes, with a long-term goal of two hours. Additionally, testing is underway on the Brescia-Verona route to extend high-speed rail services, with operations expected to begin in the first half of 2027.
