Grzegorz Braun disrupts European Parliament meeting with Russian opposition
European Parliament MEP Grzegorz Braun, leader of Konfederacja Korony Polskiej, sparked a confrontation during a meeting involving representatives of the Russian opposition. The meeting, organized by the European Parliament's interparliamentary delegation for cooperation with Russia, was intended to discuss the political situation in Russia, social moods, and the upcoming State Duma elections.
According to former Russian deputy Dmitry Gudkov, Braun entered the room and loudly expressed his dissatisfaction with the presence of the guests, stating that such discussions should take place in a restaurant rather than the Parliament. Gudkov reported that Braun effectively forced the opposition members out of the room. The guests included figures such as Gudkov, Kirill Martynov of Novaya Gazeta Europe, and constitutionalist Elena Lukyanova.
In a separate context, Braun has also engaged in a sharp critique of the Polish intelligentsia. In a discussion regarding the work ‘Polskie biesy’, he characterized the Polish intelligentsia as a class lacking true independence, describing them as being tied to state or corporate employment and driven by specific ideological tenets including modernism and anti-Russian sentiment.
