Grzegorz Braun faces investigation over medical certificate validity
The Warsaw District Court for Praga-Południe canceled court hearings for politician Grzegorz Braun, originally scheduled for October 30 and November 6, 2026. The cancellations were based on a medical certificate provided by Braun to justify his absence.
However, the Warsaw District Prosecutor's Office has requested a verification of the certificate's reliability. Prosecutors are seeking to determine if a physical examination preceded the document's issuance and have requested that the Social Insurance Institution (ZUS) audit the ruling of temporary incapacity for work.
Investigators noted that Braun appeared at the Constitutional Tribunal shortly after the first canceled hearing, where video footage showed him in good spirits and health, including taking a selfie with Jarosław Kaczyński. He also attended consultations at the Presidential Palace the following day. The legal proceedings against Braun involve several incidents, including the extinguishing of Hanukkah candles in the Sejm and the disruption of a lecture regarding the Holocaust.
