Grzegorz Braun removed from court during hearing

During a court hearing in Warsaw, MEP Grzegorz Braun was temporarily removed from the courtroom following repeated warnings from Judge Marcin Brzostko. The proceedings concern several charges, including physical violence, violating personal integrity, and insulting religious feelings.

A central part of the hearing involved testimony from Professor Jan Grabowski, whose lecture at the German Historical Institute in Warsaw was interrupted by Braun in May 2023. Professor Grabowski described the incident, noting that Braun snatched a microphone from his face and struck it against a desk, causing damage to equipment. Grabowski testified that the stress caused by the attack was equivalent to physical harm.

Throughout the hearing, the judge repeatedly intervened to strike questions from Braun’s defense that attempted to turn the trial into an academic debate regarding Grabowski’s historical research. Braun argued that his actions were a lawful parliamentary intervention intended to defend the reputation of the Polish nation. The judge eventually ordered Braun to leave the room for 30 minutes due to his use of offensive language toward witnesses and non-compliance with courtroom decorum.
