GS Retail provides emergency relief to Guryong Village fire victims
GS Retail has announced the emergency distribution of approximately 2,000 relief items to residents of Guryong Village in Gaepo-dong, Seoul, following a major fire. The relief package, delivered through the Korean Red Cross, includes 800 bottles of water and 1,200 emergency food items such as instant noodles and energy bars, intended for approximately 80 affected residents.
The fire broke out in a temporary structure in the village's second district on the afternoon of the 27th and was fully extinguished by the early morning of the 28th. Firefighting efforts involved 232 personnel and 110 pieces of equipment, including six helicopters, though strong winds and water shortages complicated the response. The blaze impacted 77 households and 107 residents across three districts.
GS Retail stated it will continue to monitor the situation and assess the need for additional support to assist residents in returning to their daily lives. The company utilizes its nationwide infrastructure, including GS25 convenience stores and GS The Fresh supermarkets, to provide disaster relief.
