GS25's high‑protein kimbap sales top 1.5 million units in three months
South Korean convenience‑store chain GS25 reported that its two high‑protein kimbap varieties – tuna‑egg and egg‑mackerel‑mayonnaise – launched in late April have together sold more than 1.5 million units. The products contain about 15 g of protein per roll and use half‑oil mayonnaise. During the same period, low‑sugar triangle kimbap items also crossed the 1 million‑unit mark. Overall, GS25’s kimbap and triangle‑kimbap sales rose roughly 25 % year‑on‑year between April 28 and July 24. The retailer will add a cheese‑pork‑cutlet kimbap with 17 g of protein as the next item in its high‑protein series. GS25 noted a broader rise in protein‑drink sales, which grew about 27 % compared with the previous year, overtaking banana milk in the category.
