GSC Game World sets Stalker 2: Cost of Hope release for August 20, 2026

Ukrainian developer GSC Game World announced that the first major story expansion for Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl, titled “Cost of Hope,” will launch on August 20, 2026 for PC, Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5. The DLC returns players to the Zone as the protagonist Skif follows a mysterious PDA signal, and centers on the escalating conflict between the Duty and Freedom factions. New locations such as Iron Forest and the CNPP, additional weapons, allies and enemies, and dozens of hours of content are promised, with player choices influencing the Zone’s future.

On the same day the studio will release a free 2.0 update that upgrades the game to a newer Unreal Engine 5 version (5.5.4) and adds various gameplay improvements. The original Stalker 2 release sold one million copies in two days and has attracted over six million players worldwide, making the expansion a highly anticipated addition for its fanbase.
