GSMA urges governments to release spectrum for 6G deployment

The GSMA is urging governments and regulatory bodies worldwide to release specific frequency bands to ensure the timely deployment of 6G technology. To meet the estimated 2030 target for 6G networks, the association states that the 6.425 to 7.125 GHz band must be made available for mobile services.

More than 60 companies within the connectivity and telecommunications ecosystem have signed a joint declaration supporting this request. Industry players, including operators such as MasOrange, are already working on the development and implementation of the new standard. The GSMA warns that failure to act on spectrum allocation now could delay the arrival of 6G connectivity.
