GSP Beograd dismisses electrical subsystem executive director

Goran Manojlović has been dismissed from his position as Executive Director for the electrical subsystem of the Belgrade City Public Transport Company (GSP). The decision follows what the ‘Centar’ union describes as a ‘catastrophic state’ within the electrical subsystem, specifically affecting tram and trolleybus operations.

Key issues cited by the union include a decline in the technical reliability of trams, the failure of CAF-manufactured trams to operate during peak August temperatures, and poor performance from new Bozankaya trams from Turkey. Additionally, there has been a surge in passenger and driver complaints regarding malfunctioning air conditioning units in trolleybuses.

Slobodan Stević, an electrical engineering graduate with professional experience, has been appointed to replace Manojlović. The union noted that the new director inherits significant challenges, including massive company debts, pressure from suppliers due to unpaid obligations, delays in procuring spare parts, and a shortage of engineering and maintenance staff. The union stated it will closely monitor the actions of the new leadership to ensure the company is prepared for the upcoming autumn and winter seasons.
