GSRTC to upgrade toilet blocks at 56 bus stations in Gujarat
The Gujarat State Road Transport Corporation (GSRTC) has launched a special campaign to repair and upgrade toilet blocks at 56 bus stations across the state. Supervised by Deputy CM Harsh Sanghavi, the initiative aims to improve hygiene and basic amenities for passengers, particularly women, the elderly, and long-distance travelers.
Work is scheduled to be completed within the next 8 to 12 months. Currently, repairs have been finished at six stations—Savarkundla, Vansda, Dhankuka, Umrala, Palitana, and Dhasa—while work is ongoing at 17 others. The remaining 33 stations are slated for upgrades in the coming months.
The upgrade plan includes plumbing repairs, replacing urinals and WC pans, installing new doors and windows, new flooring, electrical work, improved drainage, and painting. Each station is expected to add approximately 25 urinals, 20 general WCs, and 25 women's WCs. Additionally, the corporation is introducing the QR code-based ‘Musafir Seva Setu’ application, allowing passengers to lodge real-time complaints regarding infrastructure and cleanliness.
