GSSEE criticizes government measures on wages and cost of living

The General Confederation of Greek Workers (GSSEE) has criticized recent government announcements regarding wages and the cost of living, labeling them insufficient to address the widening gap between income and actual expenses.

The confederation stated that hundreds of thousands of employees continue to face low wages, rising prices for essential goods, housing pressure, and uncertainty regarding their ability to cover monthly needs. GSSEE argues that addressing these issues requires more than fragmented measures; instead, it calls for substantial wage increases, the restoration and strengthening of free collective bargaining, and the effective implementation of collective labor agreements.

Furthermore, the organization is demanding decisive interventions to curb inflation and insists that economic growth should be measured by the purchasing power of citizens and their ability to live with dignity, rather than solely by macroeconomic indicators. GSSEE emphasized the need for a comprehensive developmental plan rather than what it described as a collection of pre-election promises.
