Güstrow area hit by series of three serious traffic accidents

A series of three serious traffic accidents occurred in the Güstrow area within a short timeframe.

The first incident took place on the A19 motorway near the Güstrow junction in the direction of Rostock. A collision occurred between a Volkswagen and a semi-trailer truck during an overtaking maneuver. The 72-year-old driver of the Volkswagen sustained minor injuries. The accident caused damage to the truck's fuel tank, leading to a diesel leak that required intervention by the fire department. The motorway was temporarily closed and partially reopened by late afternoon.

Shortly after, a second accident occurred on Neukruger Straße. A three-vehicle collision involved a Skoda, a Smart, and a police vehicle from the Güstrow police station. The collision was triggered when a Skoda driver braked for traffic, leading to a chain reaction. The drivers of the Smart and the Skoda sustained minor injuries and were transported to the Güstrow clinic. All three vehicles involved were rendered unroadworthy.
