Güstrow murder trial of 8‑year‑old Fabian continues

The murder trial of eight‑year‑old Fabian from Güstrow is ongoing at the Landgericht Rostock. The defendant, Gina H., is accused of stabbing the child six times in the chest, setting the body on fire and leaving it weighing only 20 kg. The victim’s mother, Dorina L., is a co‑plaintiff and is represented by long‑time victim‑rights lawyer Christine Habetha.

On 12 June 2026, the eleventh day of proceedings, a key witness is scheduled to testify. The witness claims he was led by Gina H. to the pond near Klein Upahl, where the body was later found, and says she gave directions and used a flashlight to locate the corpse. Earlier media reports described the witness’s account, including alleged statements by the defendant about seeing a “puppe” or possibly the child.

The trial has attracted nationwide attention in Germany due to the brutality of the crime and the emotional involvement of the victim’s family, who seek to give Fabian a presence in the courtroom.
