Gina H. trial for murder of 8‑year‑old Fabian in Güstrow

An 8‑year‑old boy, Fabian, was found dead in a pond near Güstrow on 10 October 2025 with six stab wounds; his body was later burned. The prosecution alleges that 30‑year‑old Gina H., who had been in a relationship with the boy’s father, killed Fabian to restore that relationship.

Gina H. is being tried at the Landgericht Rostock. Witnesses have included a police officer who broke down while describing the discovery of the body, and a long‑time psychotherapist who testified that she suffers from a severe mental disorder with borderline personality traits, post‑traumatic stress and a social phobia. The therapist also noted contradictions in her accounts of past sexual assaults and highlighted her claim that Fabian was “like her own child.”

Background testimony revealed that Gina H. was abandoned by her parents in childhood and grew up with grandparents, a history the court described as contributing to her emotional instability. The trial entered a summer recess after the 19th hearing; it will resume on 6 August, with a verdict expected in early September.
