GTA 6 faces Australian age‑verification law and worldwide pre‑order scams

Australia has introduced strict age‑verification requirements for games rated 18+, including Grand Theft Auto VI. Players must prove adulthood with a passport or driver’s licence before accessing the title. The measures stem from online‑safety legislation enacted in March 2026, with penalties of up to A$50 million for non‑compliance. Authorities say the rules apply to all digital providers, and concerns have been raised about the collection and storage of personal data.

Separately, security firm Kaspersky warns that cybercriminals are exploiting GTA 6 hype with fake pre‑order websites, counterfeit video tutorials and bogus beta‑download links. These schemes harvest personal and payment details, install malware, and even target cryptocurrency owners. Kaspersky advises users to purchase only through official console stores or Rockstar’s website, use prepaid cards, and employ strong antivirus and multi‑factor authentication to protect against fraud.
