Gütersloh announces municipal administrative restructuring
The city of Gütersloh is planning a fundamental restructuring of its administrative framework to increase efficiency and optimize internal processes. The reorganization involves a significant redistribution of responsibilities across several departments.
Key changes include moving municipal building management to a different business area and reassigning integration tasks to the social affairs department. Additionally, the equality officer will be placed under the direct supervision of the mayor to ensure closer ties to administrative leadership. The city also intends to merge city marketing and economic development efforts.
This structural overhaul is prompted by an upcoming generational shift in leadership, specifically the planned retirement of the head of the Building, Mobility, and Environment department in October 2027. As part of a broader strategy for cost control and streamlined hierarchies, one senior administrative position is expected to be eliminated.
