GTI targets $20m in partnerships to boost NPFL value
GTI Asset Management and Trust Ltd. has announced a target to secure $20 million in additional partnerships to increase the commercial value of the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL). This goal follows a $7.5 million, three-year title sponsorship agreement signed by EuroMatch for the 2026/27 season.
During a news conference in Lagos, GTI executives Nelson Ine and Abubakar Lawal emphasized that the EuroMatch deal serves as a validation of efforts to reposition the league as a viable sporting asset. The company, which has been a strategic partner of the NPFL since 2022, aims to attract further private-sector investment by offering various sponsorship categories, including title, associate, and regional partnerships.
To sustain this growth, officials noted that commercial progress must be accompanied by structural reforms. Key areas for improvement include club licensing, infrastructure, broadcast production, financial reporting, data management, and digital content to build long-term investor confidence.
