Göttingen police injured during anti-abortion protest clash

Twelve police officers were injured during a violent confrontation in Göttingen, Germany, following a peaceful anti-abortion demonstration. The original gathering, held under the theme ‘Public Rosary Against Abortion,’ involved approximately 20 participants who expressed their views through prayer and speeches.

According to police reports, a counter-protest formed spontaneously and became increasingly aggressive. As the anti-abortion group attempted to leave the marketplace under police escort, counter-demonstrators tried to break through the police cordon to reach the participants.

To prevent a direct clash between the two groups, law enforcement used force approximately 200 times. Twelve officers suffered injuries from irritants, such as pepper spray, during the intervention. Authorities are currently reviewing footage and investigating potential criminal offenses to identify those involved in the escalation.
