Koo Kyo-hwan stars in upcoming action film ‘Reawaken Man: The Red’

The South Korean action-adventure film ‘Reawaken Man: The Red’, directed by Baek Jong-yul, is scheduled for theatrical release on September 30. Based on a popular webtoon, the story follows Seok-hwan, an unemployed job seeker played by Koo Kyo-hwan, who discovers he possesses the supernatural ability to resurrect 72 hours after dying.

As Seok-hwan grows stronger with each resurrection, he becomes the target of a mysterious individual named Black, played by Shin Seung-ho, who has the power to manipulate others. The film also features Kim Si-ah as Ye-rin, Seok-hwan’s tech-savvy and dependable younger sister, and Kang Ki-young as his close friend Young-ha.

Koo Kyo-hwan, who has seen significant box office success recently, noted that he prepared physically to handle the film’s intense action sequences. Director Baek Jong-yul remarked that Koo’s natural optimism and humor made him a perfect fit for the protagonist, noting that the actor’s persona often felt indistinguishable from the character.
