Guña Rieder Leads GSK Korea's 40th Anniversary Push for Patient‑Centered Innovation

Guña Rieder, the chief executive of GSK Korea, marked the company’s 40‑year presence in South Korea with an interview discussing the firm’s future direction. He highlighted his role in the 2010 H1N1 pandemic response and underscored the importance of prevention over treatment, especially as South Korea enters an ultra‑aged society.

Rieder said GSK Korea aims to expand adult‑vaccination programs, reduce hospital admissions, and lower health‑system costs through broader vaccine uptake. He noted that South Korea ranks among GSK’s global Top‑10 R&D markets, with strong clinical‑research capacity and a mature health‑care infrastructure. The company plans to deepen investment in clinical trials, post‑marketing studies, and real‑world evidence research, while leveraging mutual‑recognition agreements to accelerate drug access.

Internally, GSK Korea promotes a “Lead the Wave” culture that encourages staff to take initiative, accept responsibility, and drive innovation for patients.
