Guadalajara academics call for mobility policy on López Mateos avenue

Academics from the University of Guadalajara, ITESO, and Universidad Panamericana have criticized the lack of progress in transforming urban mobility studies into public policy for the Adolfo López Mateos avenue in the Guadalajara Metropolitan Area.

During a Sustainable Urban Mobility Seminar, specialists noted that while participation exercises conducted in 2023 and 2025 identified causes, priorities, and alternatives for intervening in the corridor, these findings have not yet been implemented. Researchers argued that there is a significant body of knowledge available, but a lack of political intention to generate concrete alternatives. Some experts further questioned the effectiveness of citizen participation mechanisms, describing them as simulations that have not been utilized as technical instruments for urban planning.
