Guadalajara and Ipiales launch support programs for sexual and gender diversity

Municipal governments in Guadalajara, Mexico, and Ipiales, Colombia, have launched initiatives to support sexual and gender diversity through specialized workshops.

In Guadalajara, the government is introducing the “Siempre Viva” workshop. This free program is designed for lesbian, bisexual, pansexual, and trans women to strengthen their leadership, economic autonomy, and human rights. Developed in collaboration with Fundación Marisa, the sessions focus on emotional and corporal autonomy to help participants overcome social and cultural barriers.

In Ipiales, the local administration held the first “Tejiendo Disidencias” mental health workshop at the Centro IntegrAte. This initiative, coordinated with national government strategies, provides a safe space for individuals with diverse sexual orientations and gender identities. The program focuses on emotional healing, self-esteem, and personal development to promote inclusion and combat discrimination.
