Spanish municipalities announce local employment and infrastructure initiatives

Various Spanish municipalities and provincial authorities have announced several local initiatives regarding employment, social services, and public infrastructure.

In Mijas, the local government has approved an extraordinary public employment offer to stabilize approximately 380 positions, following judicial rulings to align with current labor laws. Meanwhile, the Diputación de Sevilla has allocated 12 million euros to 106 municipalities for a program aimed at hiring individuals at risk of social exclusion through temporary employment.

In Guadalajara, the city has invested 70,000 euros to eliminate 38 lighting blackspots across 14 neighborhoods using LED technology to improve urban security. Additionally, the city is preparing for its 2026 Feria y Fiestas de la Virgen de la Antigua, which will feature over 300 activities and a new free ticketing system for bull runs to manage crowds.

Other regional updates include Caudete opening registration for its Corresponsables Plan to assist family work-life balance, and Jaén launching the Proempleo8 program, which uses over 8.7 million euros to provide socio-labor insertion training for 1,320 unemployed individuals.
