Guadalajara begins 2026 Ferias y Fiestas with tradition and sport
The 2026 Ferias y Fiestas in Guadalajara have commenced with a series of traditional and sporting events. The festivities began with the Verbena del Cerro del Pimiento, where approximately 600 people gathered at the Cerro del Pimiento plaza. The event featured live music from the group Manzanares, playing rhythms such as pasodobles and rumbas, alongside the traditional distribution of buns and lemonade to honor the memory of the former neighborhood.
In addition to cultural traditions, the city hosted the Plaza 3x3 CaixaBank tournament at Plaza de España. This outdoor basketball circuit brought together 250 players across 59 teams, ranging from youth categories to seniors. The event included 113 matches, family game zones, and a wheelchair basketball exhibition. Notable attendees included Mayor Ana Guarinos and former player Fernando Romay, who served as an ambassador for the Spanish Basketball Federation.
