Guadalajara expands demand-responsive transport in rural areas

Since January 2026, more than 1,700 passengers have utilized the Demand-Responsive Transport (TSD) service in the Señorío de Molina region of Guadalajara. The service covers 80 municipalities with a combined population exceeding 10,500 residents. According to Jesús Alique, the Commissioner for the Demographic Challenge of Castilla-La Mancha, the transport system has covered approximately 31,000 kilometers in the region during the first eight months of the year.

Guadalajara is becoming the first province to implement TSD across all its depopulated areas. This expansion is supported by an agreement between the regional government and the Provincial Council of Guadalajara. While the service will reach almost all rural areas, the Henares Corridor will continue to rely on the ASTRA service for mobility. Similar TSD operations have been active in the Sierra Norte of Guadalajara since May 2023, serving 82 population centers.
