Guadalajara hosts new Mexican comedy film and Netflix series production

The Mexican comedy film *Loco México Mágico*, directed by Carlos Santos and starring comedian Daniel Sosa, was presented in Guadalajara. The story follows the residents of Alvarado, Veracruz, who decide to produce a movie to attract international tourism despite lacking film experience. The film, which highlights community spirit and Mexican identity, is scheduled to open in cinemas on 13 August.

At the same time, Guadalajara is serving as a primary filming location for Netflix’s upcoming eight‑episode series *La Dama del Norte*. Production runs through 6 August, using sites such as the historic Beladíez courts. The series, created by Daniel Écija and based on Ulises Bértolo’s novel, stars Elena Rivera, Maxi Iglesias and others, and follows a young woman who leads a major drug cartel while navigating a complex relationship with a detective. The shoot is part of a broader international production that also includes scenes in Madrid, Galicia and Oporto.
