Guadalajara launches universal accessibility audit on López Mateos Avenue

An accessibility audit was carried out on Guadalajara’s Avenida López Mateos, a major thoroughfare often debated for its traffic issues. The audit, organized by the civil association Don Bosco Sobre Ruedas, was conducted together with state deputy Omar Cervantes Rivera, the vice‑coordinator of the Movimiento Ciudadano bench. Participants included local residents, academics, business owners and municipal officials.

The focus of the audit was to evaluate pedestrian infrastructure and universal accessibility along the avenue’s sidewalks, which have been cited as lacking in inclusive design. Findings are intended to inform a comprehensive proposal for total mobility on the corridor, integrating city, state and federal authorities as well as neighboring municipalities such as Zapopan and Tlajomulco.
