Guadalajara man detained for medical equipment theft
A man identified as Joaquín “N” has been linked to a criminal process in Guadalajara, Jalisco, for the alleged theft of specialized medical equipment and personal belongings from hospital patients.
Investigations by the Jalisco Prosecutor's Office indicate that the suspect was involved in at least two separate incidents. In the first, occurring in March, he allegedly forced entry into a health facility in the Santa Mónica neighborhood to steal ultrasound and laser equipment valued at approximately 42,000 pesos, reportedly threatening a witness with a knife. In a second incident in July, he allegedly posed as a patient to infiltrate a hospital in the Huerta Baeza neighborhood to steal medical gear.
Following his arrest, authorities discovered a separate active arrest warrant for the suspect in Nayarit. A judge has ordered one year of mandatory preventive detention while a three-month period for complementary investigation is established.
