Guadalajara opens nominations for Santiago Bernal Photography Award
The Guadalajara City Council has announced the third edition of the Santiago Bernal Career in Photography Award. This biennial prize, which carries a 6,000 euro award, honors individuals who have made significant contributions to the practice, reflection, dissemination, and promotion of photography, particularly those with national or international relevance.
The award is named after Santiago Bernal Gutiérrez, a self-taught photographer and key figure in the development of photography in Guadalajara. Bernal long presided over the Guadalajara Photographic Group and was instrumental in promoting the National Abeja de Oro Prize and the International Photography Week.
Applications are open to photographers and professionals in visual arts mediation, including researchers, curators, and managers. Nominations must be submitted by public or private institutions, foundations, associations, or academies. The deadline for submissions is October 30, 2026.
