Explosion during Misantla patron saint festivities injures 23 in Veracruz

An explosion occurred on the night of June 30 during the patron saint celebrations in the Los Trapiches community of Misantla, Veracruz. The blast was sparked when a "torito" pyrotechnic device struck a gas cylinder installed in a local store, causing a strong detonation.

The incident left 23 people injured, three of them with serious burns. Victims were taken to the IMSS Bienestar hospital in Misantla, while two were transferred to the General Hospital of Martínez de la Torre and another to the Dr. Rafael Lucio specialty center in Xalapa. Municipal authorities, including Mayor René Omar Jaén Domínguez, coordinated the emergency response, which involved the National Defense Secretariat, state and municipal police, civil protection, firefighters, the Red Cross, the National Rescue Squadron, and municipal DIF personnel. The mayor said, "En la fiesta patronal de la comunidad de Los Trapiches sucedió un incidente muy lamentable… fueron 23 personas que se atendieron en el hospital y de las cuales tres se encontraban graves."
