Guadalajara: Televisa presenter charged after fatal motorcycle accident

A traffic accident in Guadalajara involving Michelle Zepeda, a weather presenter for N+ (Televisa), has resulted in charges of involuntary manslaughter. A road expert report determined that Zepeda ran a red light in the early hours of September 17, striking 19-year-old Jostin Santamaría while he was riding a motorcycle.

The collision occurred near the University of Guadalajara's General Rectorate at the intersection of Enrique Díaz de León and Juárez-Vallarta avenues. Santamaría succumbed to his injuries, while Zepeda was injured and transported to a hospital.

The Jalisco State Prosecutor's Office (FGEJ) confirmed that toxicology and alcohol tests for Zepeda were negative. Authorities also addressed social media rumors regarding a potential hit-and-run, stating that Zepeda did not flee the scene but was taken to a hospital for medical attention before being placed at the disposal of the Public Ministry. The investigation into the involuntary manslaughter is ongoing.
