Guadalajara Zoo Hosts School Trip and World Cup Animal Picks Event
The municipal government of Purísima del Rincón organized a special outing for 24 children, accompanied by parents, to the Guadalajara Zoo. The trip, part of the "Presidente/Presidenta por un Día" contest, was overseen by municipal president Roberto García Urbano and municipal civil protection, emphasizing civic values, environmental awareness and family bonding.
Separately, the zoo staged a promotional activity for the 2026 FIFA World Cup in which elephants, a giraffe, a puma and gorillas selected their favorite national teams. Veterinarian Iván Reynoso Ruiz explained that the event is part of the zoo’s animal‑welfare program, using adapted toys and cues to engage the animals while entertaining visitors. The elephants favored Mexico, the giraffe chose the Republic of Congo, the puma picked Korea and the gorillas supported Uruguay.
