Guadalupe Azucena “N” charged in attack on U.S. family

Guadalupe Azucena “N”, also known as “Lupe,” has been formally charged in connection with an attack against a family of United States nationality in San Miguel de Allende, Guanajuato.

The incident occurred in the early hours of January 4, 2026, in the community of Los Órganos. According to the Guanajuato State Attorney General's Office, the suspect and others entered a residence without authorization, fired shots inside the home, and started a fire. During the attack, a vehicle belonging to the victims was also set ablaze, and various items including electronics, tools, and cash were stolen.

A judge has ordered the defendant to remain in pretrial detention. She faces charges of attempted qualified homicide, qualified robbery, and damages caused by fire. The investigation has been designated a priority by the Specialized Prosecutor's Office for the Investigation of High-Impact Crimes (FEIDAI), and authorities have been coordinating with U.S. consular officials regarding the case.
