Guadalupe Basilica in Mexico Welcomes Over 80,000 Pilgrims and Colombian Clergy Delegation

The 136th pilgrimage organized by the Diocese of Querétaro concluded with more than 80,100 faithful arriving at the Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe, according to vicario general Martín Lara Becerril. He said the event involved coordination among five state governments and about 70 institutions, marking the largest inter‑institutional effort recorded for the tradition. Minor health incidents such as stomach infections and flu were reported, but no serious issues occurred. "Querétaro es un pueblo de vocación peregrina," he added.

A separate delegation from the Diocese of Cúcuta, Colombia, led by Bishop José Libardo Garcés Monsalve, travelled to Mexico in late July. The group participated in a Mass at the Guadalupe Basilica, then visited the Mexico City Metropolitan Cathedral and the parish of San José in Puebla, fulfilling a pastoral agenda to strengthen ties between the Colombian diocese and Mexican sacred sites.
