Guadalupe former mayor proposes purchase of Palacio Granja de Mirabel
Felipe Sánchez Barba, the former mayor of Guadalupe, has proposed that the local City Council explore purchasing the Palacio Granja de Mirabel, a historic estate in Extremadura currently on the market for nine million euros.
The 584-hectare property, located in Las Villueras, is considered one of the region's most unique historical sites. Sánchez Barba suggested that the municipality negotiate long-term financing with a bank to avoid straining public funds. He envisions the estate being managed by a public company to drive economic growth through tourism, agriculture, forestry, or hunting activities.
If the local council is unable to afford the acquisition, the former mayor suggested urging the Junta de Extremadura to consider the purchase. The estate has returned to the market ten years after its previous public auction.
