Guadeloupe Distillery Explosion Claims Second Victim

An explosion at the Montebello distillery in Petit Bourg, Guadeloupe, has taken a second life. The second fatality was a 29‑year‑old production‑director who had worked at the facility for two years, according to prosecutor Alexandra Onfray. A fifth person remains severely injured and is being treated at the CHU de la Guadeloupe.

Authorities have opened a homicide and workplace‑injury investigation into the cause of the boiler explosion. Experts from state environmental services are also assisting, while the prosecution continues to determine the circumstances surrounding the blast.
