Guadeloupe National Park launches Grand Cul-de-Sac Marin landscape plan

The Guadeloupe National Park has launched a landscape plan for the Grand Cul-de-Sac Marin, supported by the Ministry of Ecology. This initiative aims to manage environmental, social, and landscape challenges through sustainable development.

The project involves a deep landscape diagnosis to analyze the lagoon's geographical and ecological characteristics, including natural dynamics such as erosion and the evolution of marine and coastal ecosystems. It also examines local land uses, including fishing, nautical leisure, and tourism, alongside the pressures exerted on natural environments.

To ensure a shared territorial project, the plan engages several riverside communes: Sainte-Rose, Baie-Mahault, Morne-à-l’Eau, Petit-Canal, and Anse-Bertrand. The process seeks to involve residents, lagoon users, economic actors, associations, and local authorities to define landscape quality objectives that align with local realities. The resulting program will include concrete actions such as the restoration and preservation of mangroves.
