Guadiana River navigation partially resumes in Badajoz

The partial lifting of the navigation ban on the urban stretch of the Guadiana River in Badajoz has been published in the Official State Gazette (BOE). This decision follows a total suspension that began on August 1 due to safety concerns regarding the proliferation of the Mexican water lily.

Under the new regulations, navigation is strictly limited to federated users belonging to canoeing clubs recognized by the Extremadura Canoeing Federation (FExP). The ban remains in effect for recreational users, private boats, and general aquatic activities. Specific exceptions, such as fishing competitions or festive events, may be authorized if requested at least 15 days in advance with a detailed safety plan.

Safety requirements established by the Guadiana Hydrographic Confederation (CHG) include mandatory accompaniment by accredited instructors for minors, beginners, and individuals with special needs. Additionally, users must be able to swim and wear life jackets as required by regulations.
