Guaitarilla authorities seize materials for irregular panela production

Authorities in Guaitarilla, Nariño, conducted a joint sanitary operation to seize materials used for the irregular production of panela. The intervention was carried out by the National Police, INVIMA, and the Departmental Institute of Health following reports of irregularities in the Girardot district.

During the inspection, officials found 180 kilograms of molasses, 66 kilograms of panela, 5 kilograms of clarol, 100 kilograms of cement, and 2,000 plastic packages with various brands. Authorities noted that the materials and substances found did not meet required sanitary standards for food production.

No individuals were found handling food at the site during the operation. The seized items were placed under the custody of the Municipal Police Inspection for administrative proceedings, which may include the destruction of the materials.
