Gualeguaychú to host 2026 Marathon Canoe World Championships

The 2026 Marathon Canoe World Championships will be held in Gualeguaychú, Argentina, from October 19 to 25. Organized by the International Canoe Federation (ICF), this marks the first time the event will take place in Argentina.

During the official launch at the National High Performance Sports Center (Cenard) in Buenos Aires, Entre Ríos Governor Rogelio Frigerio and National Secretary of Tourism, Environment, and Sports Daniel Scioli emphasized the economic and touristic benefits of the competition. Frigerio noted that the event represents a significant opportunity for the province, highlighting the expected influx of athletes and visitors that will stimulate local economic activity. Scioli added that sports events currently account for 10 percent of global tourism movement, citing other major sporting events in Argentina as examples of this economic driver.
