Guam awarded $1.6 million federal grant for maternal and child health services

Guam has been awarded a $1.6 million federal grant through the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services to expand home visiting services for young families in low-income communities.

The funding is part of the Maternal, Infant and Early Childhood Home Visiting program, which received its largest federal investment to date. Guam is one of 56 jurisdictions receiving funds to improve maternal and child health, promote healthy development, and connect families with essential support during pregnancy and early childhood.

Under this program, trained home visitors meet regularly with expecting mothers and families with young children to provide evidence-based services aimed at preventing chronic disease and promoting school readiness.
