Guamalito police station attacked for second time in three days

The Guamalito police station in El Carmen, Norte de Santander, was attacked for the second time in less than a week on Monday, September 7. This follows a previous attack on the same facility on Friday. Ombudsman Iris Marín reported the incident, stating that the violence was allegedly perpetrated by the ELN.

The attack is part of an intensified wave of violence in the Catatumbo region. Recent incidents in the area include a drone attack on the Trapiche military canton in Ocaña, which resulted in the deaths of three uniformed personnel, and harassment of a Rapid Deployment Force (Fudra) unit on the road leading to Ocaña.
