Guanabacoa Civil Registry closes due to bedbug infestation

The Civil Registry office in the Guanabacoa municipality of Havana has been forced to close due to a bedbug infestation. Staff members have announced that the facility is closed until further notice, with the closure potentially lasting between 15 and 21 days.

While some users expressed skepticism regarding the infestation due to the office's sparse furniture, workers and visitors noted that the insects are likely residing in the building's extensive historical archives. The infestation is believed to be concentrated in old, cloth-bound volumes and paper records stored over several decades.

During the closure, employees have advised citizens to visit other registry offices within the capital to complete their administrative tasks. The closure follows existing challenges in the region, such as power outages and shortages of paper and personnel.
