Guanajuato advances notary public competition process

The government of Guanajuato is moving forward with the 2026 opposition process for granting notary public commissions. The competition covers 22 notary offices across 20 municipalities, as three locations failed to meet the minimum number of applicants required to compete.

The evaluation process involves 89 participants who recently completed a theoretical exam consisting of at least 50 questions. To advance to the next stage, candidates must achieve a minimum score of 85 out of 100. A practical written exam is scheduled for October 30, where candidates will be required to develop a specific notarial instrument using only relevant codes and laws.

The jury, formally installed on September 18, 2026, includes representatives from the Secretariat of Government, the State College of Notaries, the University of Guanajuato, and the Universidad De La Salle Bajío. The University of Guanajuato serves as a co-adjuvant organism, assisting with the preparation and review of evaluations. The process is being monitored by observers from Transparencia Mexicana and the State Executive Secretariat of Honesty.
