Mexico reports surge in violence across Guanajuato, Chihuahua, and Estado de México

Mexico is experiencing significant waves of violence across several states. In Guanajuato, 23 murders were recorded over a three-day period between September 18 and 20, with major incidents occurring in Valle de Santiago, Salamanca, Irapuato, León, Celaya, and Cortazar. One notable incident involved armed individuals firing into a baseball field, resulting in three deaths and five injuries.

In Chihuahua, authorities reported 19 homicides so far in September. Police officials suggest that recent violence in the capital is likely driven by internal conflicts and disputes between criminal organizations, including structures linked to the Sinaloa Cartel, La Línea, and Los Cabrera. Officials noted that these incidents appear to involve individuals with criminal backgrounds rather than the general public.

In the State of Mexico, a violent 24-hour period left six people dead and three injured across the municipalities of Otumba, Tultitlán, and Acolman. One attack in Acolman involved a vehicle receiving approximately 40 gunshots.

Nationally, federal reports indicate a total of 29 homicides on September 21, with the State of Mexico recording the highest single-day count of five. While the daily average of homicides in September remains around 35.7, this represents a downward trend compared to previous years.
