Irapuato implements infrastructure projects and environmental monitoring

Irapuato is undergoing significant infrastructure and environmental developments. The municipal administration, led by Lorena Alfaro García, has implemented a public works strategy involving over 6.4 million pesos to execute 1,380 projects, including major roadworks and urban improvements.

In environmental efforts, the municipality is utilizing drones to monitor the Lerma River and its tributaries, such as the Guanajuato, Silao, and Temascatío rivers, to identify illegal wastewater discharges from industrial and residential areas.

Regarding public services, local legislators are urging the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS) to proceed with the construction of a 216-bed General Zone Hospital in Irapuato. The project, estimated at 2.857 billion pesos, aims to address a significant bed deficit for the region's 352,000 beneficiaries. Additionally, local Civil Protection officials have requested faster response times from the National Guard's Road Division to secure accident perimeters on high-traffic highways.
