Guanajuato authorities seize 59 million liters of suspected illegal fuel

Authorities in Guanajuato conducted a coordinated federal and state operation in the community of La Fragua, San José de Iturbide, seizing approximately 59 million liters of suspected illegal hydrocarbon. The raid, authorized by a federal judge, took place at a facility within an industrial park.

During the search, officials recovered ten large storage tanks containing substances with the characteristics of diesel, regular gasoline, and premium gasoline. Additionally, investigators seized three cargo units, various containers, and documentation related to the suspected illegal operations.

The magnitude of this seizure is noted as one of the largest recorded during the current administration. Due to the high volume and potential risks of fire, explosion, or environmental spills, specialized personnel are overseeing the measurement, identification, and safe handling of the product. The Federal Public Ministry is investigating possible crimes involving the storage and distribution of hydrocarbons. No arrests have been reported at this time.
