Guanajuato capital launches search operation at Mata Reservoir and Peñafiel

Municipal authorities in Guanajuato city activated a coordinated search effort around the Mata Reservoir and the nearby Peñafiel area. The operation employed municipal K9 units together with state and federal forces, conducting patrols on local roads and surrounding hills.

Search teams inspected multiple locations for signs of missing persons but reported no positive findings. The presence of heavily armed units prompted temporary road closures in the Monte de San Nicolás community. This was the second search mission this week and the fourth in the past month, reflecting ongoing concerns about disappearances in the region.
