Mexico's INE approves four new national political parties

The Instituto Nacional Electoral’s Commission of Prerogatives and Political Parties gave first‑stage approval to four citizen organisations—Construyendo Sociedades de Paz, México Tiene Vida, Personas Sumando 2025 (also known as Somos México) and Que Siga la Democracia—to be registered as national political parties. The decision, announced in late June, awaits a final vote by the INE Council General on 25 June. If confirmed, the new parties will receive public financing, with allocations of up to 84 million pesos in total or roughly 3.3 million pesos each for the upcoming semester. All four met the legal thresholds for assemblies and affiliate numbers, with Paz reporting over 334,000 valid members, México Tiene Vida more than 295,000, Somos México about 294,000 and Que Siga la Democracia around 303,000. The process has been marked by scrutiny from the Financial Intelligence Unit, which flagged possible irregularities and prompted debate within the commission, though the body proceeded with unanimous approval pending the council’s final ruling.
