Guanajuato Governor Libia García Launches Year‑Long Road Maintenance Program

Governor Libia Dennise García Muñoz Ledo announced the "Guanajuato Vamos por Buen Camino" program, under which the state's 2,640 km of toll‑free highways will receive continuous maintenance throughout 2026. The initiative divides the road network of 46 municipalities into four regional coordinations and covers activities such as pothole patching, re‑leveling, crack sealing, drainage cleaning, ditch upkeep, weed control and horizontal and vertical signage.

The program aims to improve road safety for families, reduce travel time and costs, bolster supply‑chain reliability and stimulate local economies. According to Public Works Secretary Juan Pablo Pérez Beltrán, the effort directly engages 60‑70 economic sectors and creates jobs. Luis Anaya Martínez, director of State Roads, reported that more than 80% of the network met international roughness standards in 2025, underscoring the high quality of the infrastructure.

Officials said the continued upkeep will lower accident rates, support tourism and industry, and enhance emergency‑response routes across the state.
